Port City Talks. Istanbul. Antwerp.
Form follows data, history & function.
Port City Talks. Istanbul. Antwerp. was an exhibition on two port cities. With three languages, two cities, historical and contemporary aspects, this exhibition required a thoughtful approach from the graphic design standpoint. My role was to design a graphic system that goes hand to hand with the exhibition.

Inspired from the current mapping of both sea ways for respected cities created a unique visual for this project. Also creating an illusion of two people talking to each other. Green symbolizes Antwerp, blue Istanbul.
This visualization served as a visual identity for the exhibition and carried throughout the publication, invitations, website and press.

Form follows history.
History of these two port cities was also a big part of this exhibition. To symbolize that I created a typographic system inspired from the old ferry tickets and used it in places where we exhibit historical objects. Along with that, we used a second type of paper that represents history in the exhibition book.
Exhibition wall labels. Inspired by the old ferry tickets.

All in all this graphic system has been built for the visitors in mind. To help visitors navigate through the exhibition we also created a exhibition guide.
Typography, as a part of the exhibition, needed to be informative, legible and readable and not overpower the artwork that have been presented.
